Bamboo DJ: Mash
Mash is resident DJ every Sunday night at Disco Badger. Mash was also responsible for the “This is Bamboo” mix CD, an 80 minute mix encompassing electrofunkhouser&bhiphopsoulrockindie which was distributed at the start of term.
Mash the DJ/producer/label owner/radio broadcaster aka Martyn Henderson has been DJ’ing for 17 years and has released various tracks on labels like Dirt Crew, Def Drive, Blue Black, Glasgow Underground and his own Tracktion and Distracktion labels which have been played by the likes of DJ Sneak, Freaks, Switch, Basement Jaxx, Funk D Void, Slam, Laurent Garnier, Mish Mash, Freeform Five, Mylo, Rob Mello, Stuart Patterson, Slam, DJT, Harri and Jonny Fiasco to name but a few. He has DJ’d from Paris to Prague, Brazil to Slovenia, New York to Inverness, Ibiza to Russia, Berlin to Brussels Mash has played at clubs like Turnmills, Bugged Out, Cream, 93 Feet East, The Cross, Come Shake the Whole, Sub Club, and Home and played alongside DJs from Justin Robertson, Freeform Five, James Lavelle, Mylo, Adam Freeland, Josh Wink, Switch, Ralph Lawson, Basement Jaxx, Tom Middleton, Derrick May, Stacey Pullen, Pete Tong, Erol Alkan, Stanton Warriors, The Chemical Brothers, Fedde Le Grand, Layo and Bushwacka, Weatherall, Felix da Housecat, Slam etc. and alongside bands like C.S.S., Hot Chip, Freeform Five and New Young Pony Club. In May, Mash played in New York for Tartan Week as part of the amazing Roots to the Future project alongside Laura McGhee and Tiger Style, www.roots2thefuture.com and recently was over touring in Brazil and being the DJ at after parties for Basement Jaxx, Jamiriquai, Vivienne Westwood and Matthew Williamson. Mashs EP 'Dreech/Electrique/Badabing' on Dirt Crews Players Paradise Recordings, www.dirtcrew.net. (also available on iTunes), had plaudits from producers and DJs like Funk D Void, Laurent Garnier, DJT, John Aquaviva, Ralph Lawson, Mike Monday and Freeform Five. It is included on the Dirt Crew collection double CD alongside Dominik Eulberg, Jimpster, 2020Soundsystem and Dirt Crew themselves among others. Mash's last track for Glasgow Underground, 'Somebodys Property' had plays by DJs like Freaks, Freeform Five, Paul Woolford, Rob Mello, Mylo, Leo Elstob, Stuart Patterson, Milton Jackson, Damian Lazarus and Mish Mash’s Oscar Fullone. It has also had airplay on XFM, Radio 1, Top Radio and StuBru in Belgium as well. Mash appeared on Jim TV in Belgium as well as doing many Belgian radio interviews as it was number one in the Official Belgian Dance Charts for two weeks, it features on the 'Switch 9' 'Serious Beats' and 'Top Selection' compilation albums and has been licensed to Belgian label NEWS. 'Somebody‚s property' is being prepared for a re-release on Prestel recordings with brand new mixes from Jon Pleased and Mash and Droido among others; watch this space. Mash has remixed ultra cool New York electro star, My Robot Friend which is out now on DefDrive records, and got a 5/5 in DJ Magazine and a 3/5 in IDJ magazine plus plays on Radio 1 and XFM. Mash has recently remixed Peaches 'Fuck The Pain Away'. This has been getting plays by Freaks, Twitch, Mylo, Freeform Five and obviously Mash. In the past Mash has remixed Snow Patrol, Blondie, Salon Boris, Quinn, Milton Jackson, David Duriez, Sound Development Agency, George T, The Needles, Markus Enochson and Mangomad, and has just finished a remix of “You don't know” by Milo. Mash was one half of the now defunct DJ/Production duo The Jengaheads. They recorded a few tracks most notably “Caborkebab” which was played by people like Laurent Garnier and was remixed by Funk D'Void, and they also remixed The High Fidelity’s “I Thank you”, which was played a few times on Radio 1 by the late, great John Peel. Mash also recorded alongside Marco Bernardi (Octogen, Soma, Clone) as Mhelt Project, they’re first single “The Chicago Bearsden”‚ featured a remix and vocals from techno legend Claude Young. They have threatened to go in the studio sometime soon on the way home from the pub.

Mash’s mixes are broadcast on XFM Scotland at least once a month and he has been broadcasting on radio stations like XFM, Beat 106, Radio Scotland, Fresh Air, Sub City and FM8 for almost a decade and in that time has interviewed people from Underworld to Soul II Soul, New Young Pony Club to Mylo, Jeff Mills to Arthur Baker, Pet Shop Boys to Coldcut, Groove Armada to Green Velvet and has featured mixes and live sessions from people like Derrick Carter, My Robot Friend, Underworld, Henrik Schwarz, Hot Chip, Tom Middleton, Josh Wink, Laurent Garnier, Slam, DJ Sneak, Layo and Bushwacka, Funk D Void, Mylo etc.....
